Covenant Women

Bible Studies
We have two regular Bible Studies available for our women.
One meets on Mondays at 10:45 a.m. when Thomaston Schools are in session (no meeting when school is canceled) and studies a book of the Bible.
Saturday morning at 10 a.m., a group gathers in the Fellowship Room to watch an episode of “The Chosen” and enjoy tea together.

Book Club
Each month, Covenant Women gathers to discuss a book previously chosen by the group. The genre changes regularly and all are encouraged to bring suggestions for a book to discuss together. Times and meeting places vary, so please email Martha Tillow for more information on the latest meeting time and book being discussed.

Sewing Classes
Wednesday afternoon we offer sewing classes for children in the Potter’s House until 5pm. Please contact cbfredl@optonline.net if you are interested in your children joining the class.

Liturgical Dance
is for girls 1st through 8th grade. It’s a combination of sign language and ballet, and the group has a lot of fun and worship in a fun, kid-friendly way! Practice times vary throughout the year.

Ruth Johnson, Office Manager
Ruth Johnson retired from her previous job in Human Resources in 2015 to become a stay-at-home grandma for her two grandchildren. However, she has stayed on at the church because she loves the work and it fits well with her skill-set. She also loves studying the Bible, reading, writing, singing, gardening, and watching the birds and other critters that show up outside her back door.
What We Believe
The Covenant Church of Thomaston is a part of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Like other ECC churches, we agree that the following Affirmations should guide our life and mission together:
- We affirm the centrality of the word of God.
- We affirm the necessity of the new birth.
- We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.
- We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.
- We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit.
- We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.

What is a Covenant Church?
The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination in the United States and Canada, with ministries on five continents of the world. The denomination was founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants and has its roots in historical Christianity as it emerged in the Protestant Reformation, in the biblical instruction of the Lutheran State Church of Sweden, and in the great spiritual awakenings of the 1800’s.
We Are Committed To:
Go and Tell
We are committed to telling others why Jesus matters.
Grow and Learn
We desire to provide opportunities for all ages to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Worship and Glorify
We believe worshipping God is a continual way of life for the purpose of glorifying Him.

Serve and Care
We actively seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.
Pray and Seek
We practice a lifestyle of prayer, guided by God in all things.
Give and Give More
We look for opportunities to live generously with our time, talents, and treasures.
Accept and Love
We desire to cultivate a community of acceptance, grace, and belonging for all.
A Covenant For Our Life Together
Let our interactions with others be based on Colossians 3:11-17.
“…Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. And over all these virtues put on love. . .
Listen to each other with empathy, patience and respect.
Offer to help and support anyone who is in need.
Value each other with God’s love.
Encourage each other to grow in faith, love and wisdom.
We prayerfully seek the Holy Spirit in all situations.

What We Believe
We are united by Christ in a holy covenant of churches empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey the great commandments and the great commission: to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to go into all the world and make disciples.

How Do We Dress?
You will find that our members dress in a way that is comfortable to each of them. Some dress up and some come dressed casually.
The important thing is that you feel comfortable and welcomed, however you decide to come. It is not about outward appearances that God is most interested in. He really is working on us individually.
When God looks at us, he is seeing our hearts and our relationship to Him.
